Pagkatapos ng Digmaan. Graphite on canvas. 24" x 36", 2024. Anthropocene. Vantage Contemporary.
The conflict between Palestine and Israel mirrors a post-colonial struggle for authority and dominion over territories, reminiscent of the influence exerted by U.S. imperialism in our nation. The work depicts this expression of solidarity.
Symbols serve as a subtle means of conveying dialogue. Within this composition, the Palestinian key represents the homes lost during a period when over half of the population was either expelled, forced to flee from violence, or subjected to tragic loss of life, all while being denied the fundamental right to return. This symbolic key serves as a reminder of both the physical and emotional toll of such losses and the prevailing sense of injustice. Moreover, it embodies a beacon of hope for eventual return and a steadfast claim to the properties that were unjustly taken away.
