Kevin Roque is a new media artist whose work explores societal issues and literary perspectives through emerging technologies. With a background in both fine arts and computer studies, he integrates his interests in drawing, history, programming, and the occult into his artistic practice. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2022 and is currently pursuing his master’s degree there. Roque has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Metro Manila since 2010 and has held solo exhibitions at the Prism Gallery and the Center for Art, New Ventures & Sustainable Development (CANVAS) Gallery. He has also taken part in local artist residencies, including the CANVAS Artist-in-Residence program and the Linangan Art Residency. Recently, he was shortlisted for the inaugural SANAG UP Art Prize. Roque is a member of several artist groups, such as the UGATlahi Artist Collective, Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (InK), and the Malate Literary Folio.
Currently expanding beyond traditional drawing practices, Roque creates time-based works that incorporate generative art, projection, and digital media. His practice often involves remixing and recontextualizing existing images, sounds, and/or objects to generate new meanings and forms.
